2013-14 FISCAL YEAR SCHOOL DISTRICT BUDGET
Notice is hereby given that a proposed budget has been submitted to the Board of Education of Lewis-Palmer Consolidated School District No. 38 for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2013, and ending June 30, 2014, and is available for public inspection at the District Administration Office. A public hearing on the proposed budget will be held during the regular meeting of the Board of Education of said District at the Administration Office, 146 Jefferson Street, Monument, Colorado, on June 20, 2013, at 6:00 pm. Such proposed budget will be considered for adoption at the same meeting following the public hearing. Any person paying school taxes in said District may at any time prior to the final adoption of the budget file or register his/her objections thereto.

May 2012 Update:Lewis-Palmer School District #38 announced the completion of a partial refunding of the 2006 General Obligation Bonds, saving taxpayers just under $900,000. Proceeds from these bonds were used to build Palmer Ridge High School and make renovations on Lewis-Palmer High School as well as the district stadium. Bonds originally issued for payment in years 2018 through 2026, with a principal value of $29,055,000, were refunded at a net present value savings of $891,072.74. This the second General Obligation Bond refunding completed in the past twelve months. February 2012 update:At its January19 meeting, the Board of Education voted to revise Policy DB, titled Annual Budget. Year-end fund balance requirements are included in Policy DB. Year-end fund balance requirements were revised in compliance with Governmental Accounting Standards Board requirements. Minimum fund balance requirements were also revised. The revisions include an annual review of fund balance needs in light of economic conditions and cash flow requirements. The revisions also included a requirement for an annual review of unfunded liabilities.
